Updating the C2100(FS12-TY) BMC and then Figuring out how to use KVM...

and here goes nothing...and Success Ok, so big Shout out to James at Kill-9.me for his walk-through on how to update the BMC; I did however, have to edit some steps. Please visit James' blog post at the link above for his walk-through. To setup the flash drive I was unable to select DOS rather than FreeDos, so here is my Amendment to his walk-through: Read this article:  http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1869892/making-bootable-dos-usb-drive.html or skip it and download: 1. HP Disk Storage Format Tool - This is from download.com but it was clean when I downloaded it no crapware attached. 2. MSDOS - Extract the files to a folder on your desktop or wherever convenient, we will need these later) To Create a DOS Bootable Thumb Drive: 1. Run the HP Utility as an Administrator(It won't run otherwise) 2. Select Your thumb Drive 3. Check Quick Format 4. Check Create a DOS startup disk using system files located at (these are the MSDOS files we downloaded earlier) your desktop 5. Click Start 6. Done Now continue with his walk-through or follow the steps below: Once you have successfully updated the BMC reboot the C2100, find it's IP address and login with the credentials root/root 1. Click on the Console Tab 2. Click on Launch KVM, it will download a file with a long name like viewer.jnlp(192.168.0.147@0@1450600254050) - Now here is the trick, if you double click on this is will just show you the XML file contents.   - To Launch the Java viewer you need to shorten the file name to viewer.jnlp 1. Right click on the file "viewer.jnlp(192.168.0.147@0@1450600254050)" 2. Rename to viewer.jnlp and save or click out of the area. 3. By default your computer will protect you from running java executable programs so 4. If you are running Windows 7-10 4.1 Click on start 4.2 Type in Java and wait for it to populate Configure Java 4.3 Click on the Security Tab 4.4 Click on High (Very High won't allow you to run the program at all) 4.5 Click on Edit Site List 4.6 Click add and enter your BMC's IP address as follows: https://"BMC IP without Quotes" 4.7 Click add and enter your BMC's IP address as follows: http://"BMC IP without Quotes" 4.8 Click on OK 4.9 Click on OK Launching Jviewer 1. Go back to the console tab  2. Click on Launch KVM 3. Edit the file down to jviewer.jnlp 4. Double click on the renamed file 5. CLick on Continue 6. Check the I accept the risk and want to run this application box 7. Click on Run * I find that these files tend to time-out after about 3 minutes or so, so make sure you are ready to edit and run the KVM You should be good to go let me know if you have any problems with this walk-through.
